National Village Cup

The Voneus Village Cup is inextricably linked with the English summer and has been ever since its conception in 1972. Administered by The Cricketer, this summer-long knockout tournament celebrates the grassroots game at its rural heart.

It is the biggest amateur cricket competition in the world and sees in excess of 300 clubs from all corners of the British Isles battle for the chance to ‘live the dream’ by playing on the hallowed turf in a showcase Lord’s final.

ARCC v Minster Lovell – 23rd May

NVKO Match Report The Voneus National Village Cup is the grassroots competition that, for 50 years, has embodied every village cricketer’s dream to play at Lords. The dream is still alive at Aston Rowant after a crushing victory in The Oxfordshire Semi Finals at home to Minster Lovell last Sunday. Quote of the day: "I don’t feel very well". Our NVKO Oxfordshire semi-final opponents, Minster Lovell had a reasonably poor day from start to finish. Their preparation had been well below average, turning up late and well under cooked in what was such an important game. As for us [...]

ARCC v Tiddington 9th May 2021

NVKO Match Report The Voneus National Village Cup is the grassroots competition that, for 50 years, has embodied every village cricketer’s dream to play at Lords. The Oxfordshire Quarter-Final waited for the band of merry ARCC men. With an almost full washout of games on the day before, everyone was eager for the game vs our local rivals from up the road (Tiddington). ARCC v Kingston Bagpuize – Sunday April 25th

Quote of the day – “Fail to Prepare; Prepare to Fail.” The First round (yes, the actual first round). At home once again, we this time welcomed Kingston Bagpuize to our hallowed turf. We welcomed this week three new members to our esteemed band of merry man; Gordon Harris, Rishi Pandya, Jamie Revill. It was a sunny but windy day down at Butts Way and the warmup was very much required. As first ball drew near, the Bagpipes turned up and we knew that they had failed to prepare, it was just our job to make sure they were [...]

ARCC v Cumnor 18th April 2021

NVKO Match Report Sunday 18th April was a big day. The first day of the new season for many, but the start of the NVKO for all. The sun was shining, the breeze was limited, and the outfield was rock hard (almost perfect). I would say 11 merry men assembled, but fortunately we had Hayden as our coach and Uncle Dave as the manager, so the backroom staff made it up to 13. 13 is an unlucky number to some, but it didn’t seem it today. Captain Tim Morgan (Chesty) lost the toss and Cumnor elected to bat first. Karl [...]
